Nutrition and Gut Health in Youth OCD Study
Study Description
Are you interested in helping us learn more about nutrition, gut microbiota, and mental health? If you (or your child) are 12 to 17-years-old and diagnosed with OCD, we'd love to have you participate. We're also seeking healthy youth of the same age to participate.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Inclusion Criteria
- Age 12 - 17
- Diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) or no physical or mental health issues
- Fluent in written and spoken English
We're also seeking youth of the same age to be part of the study who have not been diagnosed with OCD.
Exclusion Criteria

Regular use of prebiotics or probiotics within the past three months
Use of antibiotics within the past three months

Age 12 - 17
Benefits
Participants with obsessive-compulsive disorder who are randomized to receive the prebiotic fibre supplement may experience improved gastrointestinal health. The possibility that prebiotic supplementation may improve psychiatric health is being explored within this study.
Risks
Participants with obsessive-compulsive disorder who are randomized to receive the prebiotic supplement may experience mild bloating initially; however, this is not harmful.
